The upstairs of the front building at Dunblane Nature Kindergarten is devoted to the Out of School club where we provide after school childcare, as well as two rooms downstairs. These together provide a warm, secure and varied premises with a total of four rooms to provide different activities for different ages and preferences (and noise levels!). There is also a dedicated garden area at the front for the Out of School club. The Out of School Club cares for children aged 4 to 11 years and is open all year round before & after school and during school holidays – core hours 8am to 6pm but from 7:30am until 6:30pm if required.
Upstairs is a basic kitchen and snack area with tables and chairs, joined on to a comfortable carpeted area suitable for board games (and games consoles and DVDs in small doses). A large art and craft area is next to this with a huge range of creative resources for children’s free-expression. A quiet room is next door, with a large range of books and cushions. Downstairs are our two new flexible spaces which have been used as soft-play rooms, science and exploration spaces, internet research and homework space and in future as a dedicated space for the older children. Children are currently escorted by our staff to and from St Mary’s, Newton & Dunblane Primary Schools. Transport is via staff-escorted taxi, in staff cars (where full insurance is in place, as well as car seats) or walking escorted by Dunblane Nature Kindergarten staff. During term time we provide a nutritious and healthy snack on arrival back from school in the afternoon.
At our Holiday Club a range of activities are available from table top play, including map making and board games, to outside play as well as a homework and reading area. The club provides a wide range of activities including trips and visits from guests; these are all planned in consultation with the children. In the school holidays a choice of a hot lunch is also offered to the children.
